Nancy Lee Williams, 77 of Mannington, WV passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at her residence. She was born September 23, 1933 at Mannington, WV a daughter of the late John and Mary Yost Looman.
She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Lil Freeman and husband Doug of Worthington, WV, Bessie Keener and husband Paul of Mannington, Sherry Williams of Mannington, Wesley Michael Williams and wife Betty of Mannington, David Bearl Williams and wife Renae of Parkersburg, WV and Felicia Ramage and husband Wayne of Rachel, WV; nine grandchildren, Terri Newbrough and husband Fred of Chester, VA, Jennifer Ralston and husband Marc of Fairmont, April Kalleel and husband Paul of Shinnston, Chris Freeman and wife Trish of Fairmont, Aimy Williams of Parkersburg, David Lewis Williams and wife Angela of Parkersburg, Nickolas Ramage and companion Heather Mundell of Rachel, Justina (Tina) Merrill and husband Steve of Metz and Mathew Ramage of Rachel. She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren and one brother, Russell Looman and wife Avis of North Ridgeville, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Burl Williams; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Riggs and her husband Paul Riggs, Ethel McNeally and Mildred Kellar; In-laws, Grace Sturgeon of Virginia, Estaline and Roy Parks of Weirton, WV, Grace Williams of Fairmont, Gladys Gene Morris of Reader, Pansy Williams of Mannington, Oliver Williams of Salem, WV and a close friend, Robert Belt of Baltimore, MD.
Nancy was retired from the Marion County Board of Education where she was a teachers’ aide in the Special Needs Department for 20 years, starting at Mannington High School and ending at North Marion High School. She was one of the original founders of Special Olympics in Marion County and was very active with the organization. Nancy was also an active member of the Wendell Neptune Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5779 in Mannington for several years. Nancy loved spending time outside on her swing in the summer. She also loved spending time with her family and watching all of her children grow. Nancy never met a stranger. She was a protestant by faith and attended the First Baptist Church in Mannington.
Friends may call at the Masters Funeral Home 209 Main Street, Mannington, WV on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 2-9 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home with a close friend, Pastor Greg Roth officiating. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. I remember Mrs. W. well from the time I worked in the Pantry Store. She was a wonderful person. We are sorry for your loss.
Nacy Williams was my grandmother, and I loved her very much, and miss her. The week she died, I was going to visit her that weekend, and talked to her the day before. Mamaw, you will be missed, I love you so much
