Nellie Loraine Stevens, 92 of Joetown Community, Mannington, WV passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at her residence. She was born February 9, 1919 at Camp Run, a daughter of the late Joshua and Rosa Martin Bice.
She is survived by 9 children, Fred Stevens and wife Betty of Joetown, Richard Stevens and wife Sue of Findley, OH, Rosalee Vanderhoff and husband Butch of Joetown, Loren Stevens and wife Kathy of McComb, OH, Doug Stevens of Joetown, Kenny Stevens and wife Wanda of Big Run, Susan Slaughter and husband Charley of Wyatt Road, Gary Stevens and companion Jona of Joetown and Everett Stevens and a companion of McComb, OH; 32 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her husband Ray Stevens; 3 brothers, Bron, Darrel and David Bice; 4 sisters, Hazel, Opal, Berle and Ruby and one son, Melvin Stevens.
Nellie was a Baptist by Faith. She was a homemaker. She was a mother to her 10 children and a grandmother. She enjoyed reading, her animals and camping.
The family would like to express a special appreciation to Tender Love Care Hospice for all their help and special care given to their mother.
Friends and Family may call at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington, WV on Friday, June 3, 2011 from 2-9 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Waugh officiating. Burial will follow at the Elizabeth Mason Memorial Cemetery in Joetown. Hi this is very late I know. I am Warren Kings grand daughter. Great grand daughter of Hazel. I remember visiting aunt Nellie with Warren. She was always so nice and sweet spirited. Glad to have known her. Sorry for your loss.
