Nolan Clarence Mercer, age 86 of Campbells Run, Metz, WV passed away Friday, October 14, 2022 at WVU Fairmont Hospital. He was born August 3, 1936 in Fairview, WV a son of the late Asa Waltman Mercer and Ruby Tennant Mercer.

He is survived by his wife Sally Anne Byard Mercer with whom he was married to for 64 years, his five children, Kenneth Mercer of Metz, Michael Mercer of Metz, Judy Smith of Monongah, Marilyn (Brian) Postlewait of Metz, and Julie (Robert) Myles of Fayetteville, WV, and 17 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Nolan was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Mercer Gorby and several brothers and sisters.

Nolan was a coal miner having worked for CONSOL at Blacksville #1 Mine with 22 years of service. He was a member of the Littleton Church of God where he was song leader. He enjoyed playing cards, working puzzles and playing horseshoes.

There will be no visitation or funeral services at this time as Nolan’s request was for cremation. A Memorial Service is being planned in the spring at the convenience of the family. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington has been placed in care of the final arrangements.
