
Pauline Virginia Shock Root, 81 of Rachel, WV passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at Tygart Center in Fairmont, WV. She was born March 19, 1930 at Shinnston, WV, a daughter of the late Charles Frederick Stafford and Mary Elizabeth Loss Stafford.
She is survived by daughter, Renee Shock Efaw of Mannington, son, Timothy Shock and wife Teri Mannington, daughter, Sheila Doshen and husband Frank of Mannington, daughter Jamie Doshen and husband Danny of Rachel, with whom she had made her home for the last seven years; 2 granddaughters, Leanna Efaw and husband Dennis of Mannington and Mindy Hovatter and husband R.J. of Mannington; one grandson, Lucas Shock and wife Glenna of Four States; 6 great-grandchildren, Alexis Renee Eddy, Branson Hovatter, Aeriss Efaw, Kaden Hovatter, Morgan Shock and Waylon Shock; 2 brothers, Lenny Stafford and wife Katy of Mannington and Douglas Stafford and wife Liz of New Martinsville, WV; nieces and nephew, Pam Freeland and husband Jerl of Oklahoma, Drew Stafford and Julie Stafford; great niece, Kayleigh Santee; great nephews, Jimmy Lemley and wife Tonya and Garrett Thorne.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her first husband Norville C. Shock, and her second husband, Lenol R. Root; one brother, Charles Fredrick Stafford, who died in infancy; one sister, Mary Ann Fluharty; one son-in-law, Larry Efaw and a nephew, Douglas Dale Stafford.
Pauline was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and sang in the choir most of her life. She was employed at Westinghouse Drapery Factory, the Red Dot in Mannington and the Mannington Bowling Alley. She worked the Election Board.
Pauline was well known upholster of furniture. She sang many years with the Stafford Family Band. She loved her border collie dog, her best friend, “Butch”. She also loved painting. She was a graduate of Mannington High School of 1948. She had a great love for her family and enjoyed family get-togethers.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington, WV on Monday, October 31, 2011 from 2-9:00 P.M. Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in the St. Patrick’s Catholic in Mannington with Reverend Douglass Sutton officiating. Burial will follow at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. Condolences may be left for the family at mastersfuneralhomewv.com.
