Phillip Dale Starkey, age 79 of Smithfield, WV passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024 at River Oaks Nursing Home in Clarksburg. He was born August 30, 1944 in New Martinsville, WV a son of the late Emery Starkey and Pearl Molson Starkey.
He is survived by three children, Brad and Stacy Starkey of Smithfield, Sherri and Jim Bob Myers of Smithfield, and Kerri and George Higgs of Grafton, 8 grandchildren, Valerie Goodrich of Littleton, Molly Shaver of Grafton, Angelica McAtte of Shinnston, Jade Cooper of Folsom, Kristen Starkey of Pine Grove, Rachelle Starkey of Friendly, Jenny Starker of Moundsville, and Rex Starkey of Toledo, OH, and 7 great-grandchildren. Phillip is also survived by three siblings, Shirley (Paul) Hobbs of Blackwell, OK, Larry (Patty) Starkey of Folsom, and Carol Starkey of Bridgeport, OH, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Phillip was Veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Church of Christ and he loved listening to Reba McIntire and sports watching WVU and the Steelers.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 3-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, February 16, 2024 beginning at 11:00am. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton where Full Military Rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the Marion County Veterans Council.
