Ralph Edward Long

Ralph E. Long, 58 of Rachel, WV passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Fairmont General Hospital.  He was born December 13, 1952 at Fairmont, WV a son of the late Ralph Warden Long and Irene Watson Long.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca Lazorick Long; three daughters, Alexandra Nicole Long and Amelia Rose Long, both of Rachel, WV and Kelli Moore of Little River, SC; two granddaughters, Brittany and Alexis; two sisters, Andrea Beaty of Mannington, WV and Sonia Pratt and husband Fred of Oakland, MD and several nieces and nephews.

Ralph was a graduate of Mannington High School and attended Fairmont State College.  He was active in track and football.  He held the state track record in hurdles for 16 years.  Ralph worked in the Beveridge Industry most of his life.  He was employed as a sales representative for Crosby Beveridge Company and Cadbury Schwepps Beveridge Company.  He had also worked on pipelines including the Eureka and Alaskan pipelines.   Ralph was the lead singer in several bands including the Mason Dixon Band. He enjoyed football being a WVU and Steelers fan. He also enjoyed fishing.  Ralph was a dedicated father to his daughters.

Friends may call at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington, WV on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 6-9 P.M. and on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 9-11 A.M.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Pastor Nick Lalli officiating.  Burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
