Ralph Elmer Dodd Sr.

Ralph Elmer Dodd Sr., 90 of Metz Community, WV passed away on Monday, December 6, 2010 at Fairmont General Hospital.  He was born October 4, 1920 at States Fork, Metz, WV a son of the late Roy and Norma Hayes Dodd.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Wilma Lenora Gump Dodd; 2 sons, Roy Dodd at home and Ralph E. Dodd Jr. and his wife Paula of Metz; 2 grandchildren, Lisa Devericks and her husband Joe of Mannington and Ty Dodd and his girlfriend Paula Keener of Mannington; 2 great-grandsons, Elijah Haskins and Preston Devericks; son sister, Mae Bockstoce of Bridgeville, PA.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by 2 infant brothers and one sister, Dollie “Louise” Dodd.

Ralph was retired from Marion County Board of Education having worked in the Maintenance Department.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army during WWII.  He was a Methodist by faith and enjoyed farming.  He was a graduate of Mannington High School, Class of 1938.

Friends may call at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington, WV on Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home with Reverend Donald Thomas officiating.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at mastersfuneralhomewv.com.

We were very sorry to hear of Ralph's passing. You are all in our prayers. He was such a kind person. He will be greatly missed. Mom Gump sends her sympathy. She didn't feel that she could make the trip down there, but you will be in her prayers.
