Raymond Lee Higgins, 81 of Hawks Nest Road, Mannington, WV passed away on Friday, July 19, 2012 at his residence. He was born March 4, 1931 at Wetzel County, West Virginia a son of the late Nathaniel and Mary Elizabeth Eddy Higgins Walls.
He is survived by six daughters, Delta and Jr. Deem of Stonewood, WV, Joyce and Russell Deem of Mannington, WV , Tammie Wolfe and Thurman of Stonewood, WV, Mary Jo and John Green of Mannington, WV, Robin and Fred Lenord of Flat Run, Mannington, WV and Penny Higgins of Mannington, WV; four grandchildren who were raised in the Higgins home, Rachel Higgins and Isabella Fetty both of Joetown, Mannington, WV, Rickie Palmer of Mannington, WV and Paul Higgins of Clarksburg, WV.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; four special nephews, Mike and Freddie Drain, Kevin Eddy and Don Higgins; one sister, Virginia Higgins Grose and husband Charlie of Shinnston, WV; several nieces and nephews; John LeMasters who was raised in the Higgins home and his wife Ruby of Wooster, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Joyce Higgins on April 7, 2012; three brothers, Ray Clarence and Gail Higgins; four sisters, Lona Walls, Martha Eddy, Hazel Martin and Elsie Wright.
Mr. Higgins was a Baptist by Faith. He enjoyed Ginseng hunting, fishing and anything to do with the outdoors. He loved spending time with his granddaughters. He loved his dogs, Winnie and Skylar.
Friends may call at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington, WV on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 4-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Reverend Homer Ham officiating. Burial will follow at the Elizabeth Mason Memorial Cemetery at Joetown.
