Ressie Snider, age 85 of Idamay, WV passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born September 9, 1940 in Webster County, WV a daughter of the late Alva and Gevena Pearl Harper Tharp. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack C. Snider who died April 21, 2021.
She is survived by her sister Carol Snider, her three children, Jackson Snider, Geneva Snider and her husband John Prunty, and Roy Snider, four grandchildren, Kayla, Benjamin, Anthony and wife Kayla, and Derek, great-grandchildren, Kailie, Kaine, Fletcher, Beau, Declan, Paige, Emily, Benjamin and Raylyn. Ressie is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Clinton “Buck” Tharp and his wife Nancy, two brothers-in-law Robert Lee Ashley and Robert Snider, daughter-in-law Kimberly Snider, father-in-law Forrest Snider, mother-in-law Helen Perine, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and Wanna “Gay” McDonald, brother-in-law and sister-in-law George and Martha Starkey, sister-in-law Nova Henderson, niece Darlene Ashley, nephew Robert Ashley Jr. and great-niece Shelly Ashley.
Ressie was a loving mother and grandmother and beloved by everyone who knew her. She attended Farmington High School and worked for the Bucket Factory in Idamay and was also a homemaker. She loved spending time with family and friends. She also attended Monongah Methodist Church for many years.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Monday, March 9, 2026 from 1-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 beginning at 11:00am with Pastor Chad Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. The family would like to thank WV Caring Hospice Care and the MICU Staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital for all of their care.
