Robert Luther “Bob” Cogar, age 78, of Farmington, WV passed away at Tygart Genesis Nursing Home, Sunday, April 29, 2018. He was born August 2, 1939 in Marion Co. WV, a son of the late John E. and Lorraine D. (Cotter) Cogar.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Dorothy (Toothman-Wright) Cogar of Farmington; 4 children, Deborah (Tom) McGinley of Cheektowaga, NY, Nancy (Brent) Wine of Gainesville, GA, Barbara (Edward Arnold) Tytka of Amherst, NY and Robert Lee Cogar of Cheektowaga, NY; he was “PaPa” to his grandchildren, Christopher (Angela), Bryant (Caitlyn), Tom, Bradley, Danielle (Michael), Elizabeth, Melissa, and Alan; great-grandfather to Brenden, Colin and Jacqueline; many loving nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Emerson Crandall of Hemet, CA and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Charles and June Reno of Beaver Falls, PA. He is also survived by 2 step-daughters, Diane (Gary) Masters of Colfax, and Debbie Powell of Metz; 4 step-grandchildren, Kevin (Tricia), Chad (Dawnelle), Amanda, and Kristy (Adam); 9 step-great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Wright.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Donna (Patterson) Cogar; 4 siblings, Ovlin Cogar, William S. Cogar, John Edward Cogar, and Gladys Cogar Crandall; a step-son, David Wright and a step-granddaughter, Tausha Zogal.
Bob served in the National Guard in the 1960’s. He owned and operated Cogie’s Pizza Palace in New Brighton, PA. After driving truck for over 35 years, he retired from Yellow Freight in 2005. He was a long time member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in New Brighton, PA. He was also a member of the Teverbaugh United Methodist Church in Parrish Run, WV. He enjoyed being a “snowbird” after his retirement with his wife Dorothy as they spent their winters Florida and attended the Lighthouse Worship Center Church of God in Belleview, FL.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 2-8pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 11am with Pastor Tim Shuttlesworth officiating. Family and friends will meet on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 11:30am at the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Beavers Fall, PA for the committal service in the cemetery chapel.
