Ronald “Allen” Gooch went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 11, 2022. He was born on July 10, 1938 in Curtisville, outside of Mannington, WV. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arkey Amos Gooch and Evelyn Starkey Gooch West as well as his brother, Melvin Gooch, a dear sister-in-law, Madeline Gooch, and his loving sister, Janet Gooch.
Allen grew up on his family farm in Curtisville, WV, where he worked and maintained the farm. He loved nature and his farm animals. The big event on the farm was Thanksgiving. Allen helped his parents raise turkeys and crops to be sold at their farm store in Fairmont, WV. His favorite farm animals were his goats. He could have had a dozen of them and been happy. Allen remained on his family’s farm until he could no longer maintain it. Allen was a resident of Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center in the last years of his life.
Allen is survived by his nephews Melvin (Pam) Gooch of Fairmont, WV, Tim Gooch, Morgantown, WV, and a niece Rebecca (Greg) Parrish of Hummelstown, PA. Also surviving are four great-nieces, Autumn (Toby) Knight, Megan (Joel) Weese, Rachel (Damian) Gil, Ashley Gooch (Chance), one great-nephew Brandon (Melanie) Gooch, seven great-great-nephews, and one great-great-niece.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington has been placed in care of the final arrangements.
