Shirley Sue Smith, 84, of Mannington, WV passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at WVU Hospital in Morgantown. She was born November 27, 1941 in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Paul Gilmer and Dorothy Shutler Harton.
Shirley is survived by her three children, Tometta Yost, Dawna Freeland and Thomas (Robin) Yost II, her grandchildren, Ashley Iseli VanGilder, Tyler Yost, Teejae Yost, Tristan Yost, Raelee (DeQuann Marquis) Freeland Green, Travis Yost, Thomas Yost III and Morgan Yost, great-grandchildren, MyaLurea VanGilder, Jaedynn Hoover, Ryker Hoover, Graecynn Hoover, Levi Yost and Theodore Garrison and baby girl Green due in March, a great-great-grandchild baby boy Wilder due in December, and a nephew Paul Harton.
In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her sister Janet Shirley, a brother Charles Harton and a nephew Chucky Harton.
Shirley was a homemaker until obtaining her nursing degree in the late 80’s. After spending a few years as a bedside nurse, she opened her own business. She practiced Reiki and Reflexology as well as providing holistic health to many of her clients. Shirley had exceptional talent in crocheting, making wreaths and various other crafts that she enjoyed sharing with her family and friends.
Cremation has been chosen as the final method of disposition for Shirley. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington has been placed in care of the final arrangements.
