Teddy "Ted" Hillberry

Teddy “Ted” Wayne Hillberry, age 66 of Rachel, WV and son of the late Samuel and Margaret Louise Hillberry French passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. Ted, also known as “Pappy Ted”, is survived by his three daughters, Ashley Stewart (Zachary) of Pikeville, NC, Sonni Fluharty (Paul) of Mannington, WV and Teddy Hillberry of Rachel, WV, as well as Bebe Hillberry of Fairmont, WV.

In addition, he is also survived by his grandkids: Taylor and Chase Stewart of Pikeville, NC, Gage and Olivia Fluharty of Mannington, WV and Hayli Fluharty of Fairmont, WV. Ted is also survived by one sister, Jessie (Don) Pickerill of KY, five brothers, Bill (Carol) Hillberry and Roy of KY, Robert (Marcia) Hillberry and Donnie (Mary) Hillberry of Rachel, WV and Mike Hillberry of Shinnston, WV, four sisters-in-law, Ruby, Dorothy, Robbin, and Carolyn Hillberry, and one brother-in-law Junior Zorko.

In addition to his parents, Ted is preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Vogelsburg, Joanne Zorko, and Kathy Hillberry, six brothers, Charles, Paul, Jim, Sam, Albert, and Ronnie Hillberry, and two sisters-in-law, Vicky and Etta Hillberry.

Ted attended Farmington High School. He later was a coal-miner at several mines throughout the years. He enjoyed doing masonry work and was a certified welder. He was a jack-of-all-trades and loved to work on cars, go-carts, and lawnmowers. Ted enjoyed riding four wheelers, playing cards, throwing horseshoes and working puzzles. He also enjoyed going squirrel and deer hunting. He was an avid berry picker and created amazing homemade wine. But most importantly, Ted loved spending time with his family and friends telling stories and jokes “Pappyisms” to make them laugh.

In keeping with Ted’s wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no graveside services. Family and friends are welcome to gather for a Celebration of Ted’s life at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 12-2:00pm.
