Vernon Howard Burdine, age 67 of Smithfield, WV passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at his residence. He was born November 13, 1955 at New Martinsville, WV a son of the late Charles L. Burdine and Frances Elizabeth Bacon Burdine.
He is survived by two brothers, Willard Eugene Burdine Sr. and wife Rosie of New Manchester, WV, and Thomas Lindsey Burdine of Smithfield, WV, a sister-in-law Joann Burdine of East Liverpool, OH, two nieces, Anita (Rob) Hopwood of New Cumberland, WV and Loretta (Clint) Miller of East Liverpool, OH, two nephews, Willard “Buzzy” Burdine Jr. of Chester, WV and Sammy Burdine Jr. of Paris, OH, a great-nephew Joey (Breanna) Hopwood, a great-niece Devynn Hopwood, a great-nephew Matthew Miller, and a great-great-nephew Shane Marshall Davis.
In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Leota May Burdine and Nellie Rose Burdine, and two, brothers Charles Leroy Burdine Jr and Samuel Alvin Burdine Sr.
Vernon was a life-long member of the Pricetown Church of Christ and a graduate of Valley High School Class of 1974. He worked as a mechanic for 35 years for City Truck Service and Commercial Truck and Tractor in Clarksburg for 15 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and cookouts.
Visitation will be held at the Pricetown Church of Christ on Monday, June 12, 2023 from 11:00am to 1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm with Evangelist Steve Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington has been placed in care of the final arrangements.
