Walter Harley Connors, 81 of Levittown, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born July 28, 1928 at Rachel, WV a son of the late Walter Harley Connors Sr. and Garnett Glover Lehew.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Romanowski and husband Ed of Levittown, PA; 2 sons, Virgil Connors and fiancé Mary Clift of Stewartstown, PA and Ernest Ray Connors; his grandchildren, Jim and Dan Romanowski and Matthew and Mark Connors; sisters-in-law, Inga Connors of Carson City, Nevada and Thelma Knight and Valerie Hayes of Mannington, WV and Verneda King of Arizona; his special friend, Mary Fletcher of Mannington and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Loretta Madeline "Poog" Connors who died November 30, 1995 and his brother, Francis Weldon Connors.
Mr. Connors was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from U. S. Steel. He was a member of American Legion Post #40 in Mannington. He was a member of the Levittown Church of Christ and the Mannington Church of Christ. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons.
Friends may call at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington, WV on Friday, June 11, 2010 from 5-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Evangelist Michael P. Reese officiating. Burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. The U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Marion County Military Veterans Council Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors at the Graveside.
