William Colvin

William Lewis Daniel Colvin, 89 of Mannington, WV passed away  Monday, December 26, 2011 at his residence.  He was born November 21, 1922 at Monongah, WV, a son of the late Floyd Daniel and Velma Crimm Colvin.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Audia Almyra Martin Colvin whom he married April 16, 1952; three children and their spouses, Helen and David Haun of Fairmont, WV, Mary and Jim Carnes of Shinnston, WV and Bill and Charlene Colvin of Rogersville, PA.; three grandchildren, Kami Carnes and Jimmy Carnes of Shinnston, WV and David Haun of Idamay, WV; one brother, Norval Crimm of Cheat Lake; two sisters, Jackie Nichols and Carolyn Chickerell and several nieces and nephews. 
 
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey David Colvin, one brother, Ward Colvin and two sisters, Betty Jean Ramano and Ellen Wooden.
 
Bill was an active member and deacon of the Mannington Church of Christ. He was instrumental in the benevolent work of the church for many years.  He worked in various occupations in Baltimore, Maryland.  During World War II he worked in the shipyard in Baltimore.  He then returned to Farmington, WV and worked at the Consolidation Coal Company #9 Mine.  He retired from Consolidation Coal Company Loveridge Mine in 1982.  He was a member of the UMWA.. He was a devoted family man.
 
The family would like to thank Hospice Care Corporation for the wonderful care in taking care of Bill during his illness, especially Miss Hollywood Wilson and Lisa Hicks.
 
Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington, WV on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 2-9 P.M.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Thursday, December 29, 2011 in the funeral home with Pete Cole, Elder of the Mannington Church of Christ officiating.  Burial will follow at the Whetstone Cemetery.  On-line condolences may be left for the family at mastersfuneralhomewv.com

Helen, Mary Ellen, Billy,.. I just read of your dad's passing. So sorry for your loss. I still remember him playing the fiddle when we visited.
