William Junior Hayes, 79 of Mannington, WV, and formerly of Plum Run, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born October 2, 1933, a son of the late Leslie William Hayes and Ada Alice Stewart Hayes.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Laura Louise Toothman Hayes; three sons, Fred Lynn Hayes and wife Monica Lynn of Bellview, Jerry Ray Hayes and wife Virginia Ann of Mannington, and Larry J. Hayes and wife Patricia “Patty” of Plum Run; 6 grandchildren, Chrystal Lynn Hayes, Matthew William Hayes, Jason Scott Hayes, Whitney Danielle Hayes, Cody Lee Hayes and Sasha Marie Hayes; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Pauline Duncan of Fairmont and Nancy Gorbey of Mannington; one brother, Thomas Hayes and wife Carolyn of Barrackville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Utt.
Mr. Hayes retired from the Marion County Board of Education after 13 years of service. He was formerly employed at FMC for 15 years, the Box Factory in Fairmont, Mannington Pottery, Mon Power and Carnegie Natural Gas. He loved fishing, hunting and camping, and he also loved to visit with folks. He was a member of the Nazarene Church in Mannington and had been attending the Mannington Church of Christ.
Family and Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 6-8:00 p.m. and also on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 2-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Evangelist Michael Reese officiating.
