William Harold Shawhan, 80 of Mannington, WV passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at his residence. He was born June 13, 1932, in Harrison County, WV, a son of the late William Woody Shawhan and Agnus Marie Zirkle Shawhan.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Sharon Shawhan of Coco, FL; one daughter, Shelley Jakobsen and husband Robert of Oviedo, FL; 3 granddaughters, Amanda Fowler of Longwood, FL, Samantha Steele of Weirton, WV and Alexis Hagood of Oviedo, FL; one great-grandson, Michael Jordan of Willits, CA; a family friend, Abdul “David” Naibbe of Alexandria, VA.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a daughter, Amber Shawhan; an aunt, Barbara Conner; and a brother, Robert Shipman.
William was a United States Army Veteran. He was a general contractor for construction sites. He enjoyed collecting turtles and working in his vegetable garden.
There will be no funeral home visitation or funeral services. Committal services will be held Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton, WV. Military Rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the Marion County Veterans Council. Masters Funeral Home, Mannington, WV is in charge of arrangements.
