Willis Eugene Anderson of Mannington, WV passed away at his home on November 12, 2022. He was born November 3, 1943. He was married to his wife, Patty Michael Anderson for 56 years. He was the son of Columbus “Lum” Anderson and Mabel Harker Anderson.

Willis graduated from Mannington High School in 1963. He served in the United States Army as a sharp shooter and a clerk. He worked at the Marion County Court House and the West Virginia State Road. He then moved to the Moundsville area where he worked at Ireland, Robinson Run, and McElroy Mines for 35 years. He was also a member of the American Legion.

Upon his retirement in 2001, he and Patty moved “home” to Mannington. During those years, he taught Red Hat classes and trained young men for work in the mines. In later years, he also taught refresher classes for miners. Willis enjoyed working on the farm and traveling with family and friends. He and his brother, Sammy, enjoyed riding horses and rode in the Mannington District Fair parade for 57 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Harold “Butter” Anderson, Robert Anderson, Lee Anderson, half-brother Richard “Scratch” Marstiller, and infant brother Harry Anderson as well as sisters Joan Roupe, Margaret Carpenter, and Myrtle Ashley.

He is survived by his loving wife Patty, his three children: Christina (Bob) Myers of Mannington, WV, Michael (Tracey) Anderson of Crawley, WV, and Alicia Anderson of Mannington, WV; his five grandchildren: Brooke (Tommy) Collins of Mannington, WV, Cody (Shawna) Myers of Glen Burnie, MD, Chad Myers of Glen Burnie, MD, McKenna (Logan) Inghram of Enterprise, WV, and Cooper Williams of Mannington, WV; his seven great grandchildren, Zeke, Ryder, and Eli Collins, of Mannington, WV and Grae, Rosie, Willow, and Wyatt Myers of Glen Burnie, MD; two brothers, Sam (Martha) Anderson of Hampton, MA, and Carl Anderson of Mannington, WV; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Kimberly) Michael of Mocksville, NC and Luther Michael of Mannington, WV, and a sister-in-law Connie Marstiller of Mannington, WV; also, two special nieces Susanne (Andy) Given of Mannington, WV and Mary Elizabeth Anderson Stanley of Blacksville, WV, and nephew Daniel (Melissa) Anderson of Grafton, MA.

Willis attended the Mannington Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mannington Church of the Nazarene.

Family will receive visitors at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 2-9:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 12noon with Pastor Charles Legg and Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Interment will follow at the Mannington Cemetery.
