Calvin Martin

Calvin Dee Martin, age 90 of Rachel, WV passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah after a long illness. He was born November 26, 1933, a son of the late Odis Ross Martin and Connie May Hays Martin. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Margaret (Starsick) Martin in 1998, his second wife Cathern (Heldreth) Kerns of Fairview, his grandson Anthony “Tony” Fazio in 2004, and four siblings, Denzil Martin, Ivan Martin, Alice Reed and Viola Jean Hill.

Calvin is survived by three daughters, Cora Fazio and her husband David of Monongah, Cathy Basagic and husband Pete of Little Mill Fall, and Stacy Carpenter and her husband Donald of Rachel, his 8 grandchildren, T.J. Basagic of Colfax, Calvin James “C.J.” Fazio of Fairmont, Mary Beth Fazio Romanyak of Pittsburgh, PA Chelsea Carpenter of Rachel, Samantha Carpenter of Rachel, Dexter Carpenter of Rachel and Ethan Carpenter of Cross Lanes, four great-grandchildren, Leni Romanyak of Pittsburgh, PA, Gavin Basagic of Little Mill Fall, Owen Basagic of Mannington, and Angelo Manchin of Grafton. He is also survived by five siblings, Wayne (Julie) Martin of Seattle, Washington, Charlotte Kuhn of Hundred, Dorothy Hendershot of Warrior’s Fork, Donald Martin of Ice’s Run, and Robert (Ethel) Martin of Rymer and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calvin worked for over 30 years as an auto-body tech for Taralton Motors and then Astro Buick. He was a Knights of Columbus member of Fairmont for 38 years and a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mannington, WV.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV, on Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 2-8:00pm with Rosary services beginning at 7:00pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in the funeral home on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 10:00am by Father Binu Emmanuel. Interment will follow at Viewpoint Cemetery in Rachel, WV.
