George Melvin Stevens, 61, of Mannington, WV, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Fairmont Regional Medical Center. He was born September 5, 1953 at Whetstone, WV, a son of the late George Stevens and Maude Eurita Fordyce Stevens.

George is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Ninni of Akron, OH; 2 grandchildren, Ashley Grof and Ashton Ninni; 2 brothers, Richard Stevens of Mannington and Mark J. Stevens and fiancé Carol of Joetown; 2 sisters, Doris R. Freeman and husband Darrell of Fairmont and Carolyn Carnes of Monongah; several nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Dove Louise “Suzi” Fleming and Barbara J. Reynolds; and one brother, Ralph Wayne Stevens.

George worked as a security guard at Bombarie and Harrison-Benedum Clarksburg Airport. He attended the Joetown Church of Christ. He loved his dogs Daisy May and Sissy. He was Veteran of the United States Army serving as E-6 Staff Sargent.

There will be no funeral home visitation or funeral services. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Evangelist Dr. Michael Reese officiating. Full Military Rites accorded by the United States Army and the Marion County Veterans Council. Burial will follow at the Whetstone Cemetery.
