Irene (Ilene) Virginia Poland Smith Dudash, age 90, formerly of Mannington and Farmington, passed away on Thurday, March 2, 2017 at Fairmont Regional Medical Center. She was born September 22, 1926 at Glovers Gap, WV, a daughter of the late Oscar and Ida Furbee Poland.

Irene was predeceased by her first husband, Jack Smith, and her second husband, Andy Dudash. She is survived by her four sons, Robert (Bob) Smith and fiancée Cheryl Dixon of Mannington, Dave and Carol Sue Smith of Mannington, Charles (Bud) and Linda Smith of Farmington, and Gary Smith and companion Suzy DePalma of North Carolina; a step-son, Andy Dudash of Shinnston. Irene has 10 grandchildren, Kevin and Heather Glasscock of Rymer, Kelli Glasscock of Florida, Kristi and Doug Martin of Mannington, Christal Boone of South Carolina, Jami and Nick Velegris of Virginia, Jason and Cathy Smith of Morgantown, Matt Smith of Farmington, Travis and Amber Smith of Mannington, Andrew Smith of White Hall, and Rebekah and Joey Tarrant of South Carolina; 13 great-grandchildren, Hunter Glasscock, Wyatt Knight, Addyson Martin, Darin and Derek Smith, Bradyn and Courtney Boone, Ethan and Olivia Tarrant, Natalie and Maria Velegris, Austin Smith and Josh Smith. Also surviving are two sisters, Delores Mallery of Wheeling and Donna and Henri Fontaine of Ohio, and one brother, Ronnie and Kathy Poland of Virginia; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Poland of Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by siblings, Cathilene, Raymond, Jimmy, Harry, Earl, and Edwin Poland and Becky Palmer, and two who died in infancy.

Irene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mannington, previously employed as a cook at Mannington High School, Bobbie Brooks in Ohio and the Drapery Factory in Mannington. She enjoyed sewing and was a great cook.

The family would like to thank St. Barbara’s Nursing Home for their gracious care while their mother was a resident there.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St. in Mannington on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 2-9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 1:00pm with Pastor Greg Roth officiating. Burial will be at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
