Pastor Edwin “Dale” Parrish, 80 of Metz, WV passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Ruby Memorial Hospital on Monday, August 14, 2017. Dale was born around the Seven Pines area on November 7, 1936 to the late Charles Kenneth and Audra Mae (Batson) Parrish.

Dale was an amazing man who touched the lives of so many he knew. More than one family member has described him as their “super hero”. He grew up in the Mannington area and lived his early adult years living and working in that area, as well as Akron, Cleveland, and Kent. Dale retired from General Tire in Akron, OH in 1979 and he and his family moved back to the Metz area where he made his home until his death.

Dale loved to hunt, garden, complete wood working projects, and just be outside. His favorite activity was spending time with his family. He had a great love for God and the Seven Pines Church where he served as pastor for nearly twenty years and his knowledge of the Bible was astounding.

Dale’s family will celebrate his life at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington on Saturday, August 19th. Visitation will be from 12-3 pm with the memorial service immediately following. Private interment will occur at a later date at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Brown-Parrish Cemetery Fund with checks made payable to Sheryl Snodgrass and mailed to 37 Parrish Lane, Metz, WV 26585 with Brown-Parrish Cemetery Fund on the memo line. Dale was my cousin and he was a great help to our family when my father ill. Back when people use to go for a drive and visit we use to drop in on he and Jackie. He spoke at my Dad's funeral and knew just what to say. The community really has lost a great man and I count myself so fortunate to have known him and be part of the extended family. May the memories of him and the knowledge that he touched so many in his life be a comfort for you at this time.
